MA Iran strengthen the death penalty on the country's renowned tycoon



INTERNATIONAL - The state news agency IRNA on Saturday (03/12/2016), reported that the Islamic Republic's Supreme Court strengthens the death sentence against the country's leading tycoons.

Iran's renowned conglomerate, Babak Zanjani (42), was sentenced to death by a Tehran court in March 2016.

Iranian Oil Ministry said Zanjani owes more than two billion euros, equivalent to Rp 28.7 trillion on oil sales made on behalf of the government of Ahmadinejad.

Zanjani is one of Iran's richest businessman with a fortune worth around 14 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp 188.2 trillion.

He was arrested shortly after the election of President Hassan Rouhani.

The death sentence on billionaire Babak Zanjani has been tapped at a rate lower court sentenced to death for convicted guilty of corruption.

In the trial in court in March, Zanjani convicted of pocketing money amounted to 2.8 billion US dollars.
